A few years back a load of stuff got left outside our house from a house clearance. I managed to rescue a Sydenham familie’s photo albums from the 70s. Mostly the pictures are crap photographically but together there’s a certain Britishness to them. After watching the Mariner’s Children video ‘It Carved Your Name Into The Ground’ by Betsy Dadd, I thought I’d do this with all of them and eventually put them to music I suppose. For now here is a gif.
Make sure you watch this in HD full screen. Make a cup of tea or something, it’s stunning.
Bad Ass Tune:
Came across a brilliant set of videos from Offset which is a 3 day creative conference. These videos are from 2009- expect the 2010 one shortly. But the line up is brilliant and it’s a great resource- all are good but I am a massive fan of the Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley, Chip Kidd, Harry Pearce and Anthony Burrill talks. All excellent. From around the interwebs-
Salesman Pete- an amazingly animated video about a super hero salesman, put in front of my eyes by the animation guru Alex Amelines a.k.a onehugeeye.
Next up is a classic music video from the Ohio Players: Fire. You’ll have to trust me that it really IS worth investing 9 minutes into.
Last but not least is the vimeo award winning short film about a mans last moments with his dying dog. Oh by the way, if you don’t shed a tear then you are made of stone.
The Sea is just a wetter version of the sky / Regina Spektor
They were shadows, little bundles of grey noise / Silent Witness, S 13, E 2,
You’re not an artist Peggy- you solve problems / Madmen, S 3, E 2
Incredible and ambitious project- I think it’s Lou’s third year dream. I’ve seen similar things before, and although this one is made from submissions rather than found videos, the effect is really brilliant. Makes for actual listenable and more than that enjoyable and beautiful compositions. Go there: here
