Lantern Slide Project —
2015, Kin

The Lantern Slide Project aims to examine the materiality, content and use of glass lantern slides. In collaboration with geographer, James Ryan from Exeter University, I'm investigating how the vast archives of glass lantern slides, (stored at museums, libraries and institutions nationwide), may be used to create engaging, informative and entertaining interactions with new audiences.

Following an immersive research and design process the next stage of the project develops an app. The app utilises the best of both the original object and the digitised document, taking into account the way we interact with the physical slides.

This project was made possible by funding from REACT.
